My very knitty friends and I went to Vogue Knitting Live this month. It was held at the Marriott Marquis and the place was packed to the brim with yarns and fibers and the people who love that kinda thing. It was a good time. I bought some multicolored bits and pieces of yarn to make a "cowl of many colors" and quite a bit of yardage to make who-knows-what...but its pretty! And hand painted!
One of my favorite booths there was the one with the gigantic chunky throws that you have seen floating around Pinterest. But one skein made a third of a blanket and at $200 a pop I decided to admire and pet them and move on. The vendors had also made big chunky vests out of the stuff that I was coveting. Someday I'll have an alpaca farm and make my own chunky yarn. Or I'll just fantasize about it at the next VKL. Yeah that's probably more realistic in this city!
